The British Oil Mill, located in the Akdeniz district of Mersin, has the typical architectural features of the British colonial period and is dated to the early 1900s. The structure was built on a rectangular plan layout extending in the northeast-southwest direction with four floors above the ground floor by using stone masonry walls and a steel frame system together.

The project includes Documentation-Problem Analysis, Material Analysis, Historical Research – Restitution, Intervention Decisions – Restoration, Reuse and Landscape Design projects, and Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering projects. Within the scope of reuse, new buildings with the exhibition hall, multi-purpose hall and service functions, and open spaces surrounding these structures are designed to include the building into the city life as a cultural center.

The British Oil Mill conservation and adaptive re-use project is the winner of the “Old and New” category in MIPIM / The Architectural Review Future Project Awards 2021 and the “Project / Conservation” category in 2022 National Architecture Awards.
